I teach a workshop titled Poetry In Motion where I weave dance with words. I love poetry and encourage my students to write poetry about their dance which I will post on this page. Please feel free to contribute. Here are poems written by students who have attended my dance classes:
A wild horse now lives in my legs,
galloping and free
Through fields of new dimensions
never experienced beforeA graceful gazelle
now emanates from my soul,
no longer the newborn calf
stumbling over its own feet.
galloping and free
Through fields of new dimensions
never experienced beforeA graceful gazelle
now emanates from my soul,
no longer the newborn calf
stumbling over its own feet.
Dancing permeates every cell in my body.
At one with the music,
fluid flowing grace
wildly undulating
and spiraling
through me
and beyond. –E.K. 7/08
_____
Spread reach back spiral along
Curved grooves stories in rockfac
Pebbled surface twists into snake stalked paths of tunneled energy
Far beyond the edge of everyday walking and conversation Where the animals and small multi-legged creatures drift along by the river - C.S. 6/08

Joy (by T.Z.)
As I wake to the dance,
That I Am,
Speaking in fluidity,
It fills my heart’s open spaces,
and sets my motion free.
Now this freedom’s bending,
Points a way for dreams to be.
We step the circle of wakeful dreaming,
It fills our heart’s open spaces.
Now this freedom’s bending,
Points a way for us to see,
In group as one our footsteps fill
Your floor with laughter so joyfully.
