"praise the joy that dance releases" I think that it is dance that creates the joy and it is fear and doubt that are released.

May the beauty we love be what we do.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response--too busy dancing! No, I haven't done any guests posts for other blogs. Out of curiosity, what is your remedy for heartburn?

Thank you so much for these simple instructions that will help me just get out of my head and into my limbs where I will be able to stay "lubricated" Unfortunately I get so stuck and not sure if it starts in my head and body follows or vice versa doesn't matter it just stinks.
I pray in these next few months before I turn 50 that I will make a conscious effort to take care of this beautiful body I have lent to me.
Thank you again for sharing your beauty with the world!

Hi Jeffrey,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been on a solo writing retreat. I agree that being too stretched out is not a good thing for the body. I've seen dancers have tremendous and painful problems when they can't tighten up the connective tissue and keep the vertebrae, knees and other spacial zones in the body in alignment.

Stiffness may not be the right term for the ideal interplay of dynamic tension and extension of the ligaments and muscles.

How do you know about this? I would like to dialog more about the topic and learn... Lisa

Beautiful, but stiffness is NOT the enemy. We NEED it. A certain amount. There is a middle way. I notice some yogi's and yogini's really overdo it. Stiff gets a bad rap. I aim to promote healthy stiffness.

Aha! This was an interesting article for me to read. Your response to Rodin at an early age must have been what was happening to me in my early twenties when I visited a show at some museum in Berkeley where Hans Hoffman's work (huge canvases full of color) was on display. His pieces were all on the same floor and it was only his pieces and I just had to MOVE! I was so happy dancing erratically about and laughing deliriously; my girlfriend at the time just enjoyed watching me. It was beyond me at the time to call this dance, but surely it was. Then I went back to Germany and hybernated some more. It has taken decades to draw this freedom of movement out of me again. Looking back, it's practically painful to even think about it right now. But no matter, here I am in the present and ready to move!

Thanks so much for your commitment to dance!

In love, Jennifer

Hi Lisa,

Your work sounds very interesting. Do you know of Leah Bartal
in London and her workshops? Sounds similar. her are called journey into myth i believe and are also about movement. She is 85 and a very interesting person.
Would love to find out about workshops you have in Newcastle, affordable ones for students or people who have just graduated.

greetings from Nene
